ABOUT THE LATINO ALZHEIMER'S & MEMORY DISORDERS ALLIANCE

Our commitment is to provided education and support programs in the Latino communities of Illinois to increase awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. Intergenerational curriculum for children and grandchildren has designed.

The other important part of the Alliance has created to explain the socio-cultural context as well as emotional and physical health consequences of caregiving among Hispanic/Latinos by our cultural Competence training for professionals. After taking the training, the Latino family will perceive the Health Institution as part of the community rather than impersonal organization.

The article Stigma, lack of treament hinder Alzheimer's battle among Chicago Latinos discusses some of the ways the Alliance is helping the Latino community with this issue.
